PROTECT YOURSELF FROM IMPOSTERS
- Be wary of unexpected messages or requests for money - even if from someone you know and trust like your son or daughter
- Contact the person directly using an alternative method such as their known phone number or email, to verify the request before making a payment
- Ask questions that only a family member could answer before giving out personal information or sending funds
- Be sceptical if there is pressure for an immediate response
- Never give out bank account information or credit card numbers over the phone
- If you think something is wrong, trust your instinct and don't pay up
